Guild Introduction
Finnish Fishing Guide Guild
The Finnish Fishing Guide Guild is a national organization for fishing guides, whose main tasks are advocating for the interests of fishing guides and developing the conditions for fishing tourism. The guild fulfills this mission by influencing the development of fishing legislation, the planning of water usage and management, official decisions, and projects or plans related to guide services or fishing tourism.
As a national fishing industry organization, the guild has the right to appoint a representative to the general meetings of regional fishery areas. Through this, fishing guides have the opportunity to influence how fish resources are developed and utilized locally. The fundamental requirement for guide operations everywhere is sufficiently healthy and sustainable fish stocks. For this reason, the guild actively promotes sustainable fishing practices both locally and nationally.
The Fishing Guide Guild informs, advises, and trains its members on the requirements, changes, and opportunities related to the profession of a fishing guide and the fishing tourism industry.
Membership in the Fishing Guide Guild can be granted to a person or association engaged in the profession of a fishing guide or to an individual who has completed a professional qualification as a fishing guide. Membership applications are reviewed and approved by the guild’s board.
